origin of the Flag. Thomas Francis Meagher
a member of Daniel O'Connell's Repeal Assocation, was sent the tricolour in 1884 as a gift from the citizens of France, revolutionaries who sympathised with the Irish cause.The Flag, first flew on The Mall,in Waterford City.
